NEW YEAR, NEW YOU.
LETS DIVE INTO THE BEST PRACTICES FOR THE NEW YEAR! FROM CLOSETS, TO KITCHENS, TO YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE, LET'S CHAT ALL THINGS NEW AND IMPROVED! TIME TO JUMP IN!
Something to remember overall, as we dive into home practices, organizing, and revamping, is to cultivate each room for its specific purpose. Cultivate a kitchen for cooking, eating, entertaining and a bathroom for cultivating freshness, getting dressed, and feeling your best. When thinking about your closet, remember it is meant for styling, leaning into your creativity, choosing your outfits, and cultivating your personal style. Finally, remember to embrace realization, rest, and resetting when talking about a bedroom. Keep this tip in mind when cultivating each room and what’s inside!
CLOSET ORGANIZATION
We’ve teamed up with our favorite local styling company, Stellar Social, for tips on organizing your closet for the new year. Founder, Logan Wilson, gave us some tips on how to create an organized and inspiring space:
-First, if your closet layout allows, place your tops on the top rack, and bottoms on bottom rack. This allows for better visuals when putting outfits together.
-Next organize by season and or/style. Long sleeve tops together, shorts together, etc. Remember, you want to cultivate a space that is easy to navigate and inspiring so do whatever works for YOU and your needs.
-Once you’ve divided into categories and sections, go in and roughly organize in color order. This makes searching for that “one white top” much easier.
-For shoes, organize them by purpose and follow that by putting them in color groups from dark to light.
-While you are sifting through items, take time to notice what you have and haven’t been reaching for in the last year. If you have not visited it in about a year, and it no longer resonates with your personal style, it might be time to consider donating, selling, or trashing your older pieces.
Now that you’ve faced the most difficult organization task in the house (because let’s be honest the closet is a HASSLE but boy does it feel good to have an organized space that brings you joy, not stress), let’s talk refreshing for the new year : aside from the closet, here are some other things to think about refreshing for the new year- now’s the time!
CONSIDER INVESTING IN NEW:
bed sheets
towels and wash-cloths
socks
undergarments
OTHER AREAS TO DECLUTTER, GO THROUGH, AND ORGANIZE:
pantry
refrigerator
kitchen cabinets
drawers (especially that dreaded junk drawer)
your car
bathroom
products such as skincare and haircare
After declutterring and organizing, lets talk ways to elevate your space:
One of the best ways to elevate a space, besides keeping it tidy, has to be lighting. Ambient lighting changes everything. Investing in small corner lamps for counter spaces such as the kitchen, bathrooms, and even closets, adds a cozy touch to the home and makes a space seem that much more elevated. Here's a great setup for an example.

Another important consideration when elevating a home is the scent. A delectable fragrance never goes unnoticed. Candles, reed diffuser, and wall plug ins are always an easy option when it comes to making the room smell nice. The Pura wall plug ins are out go-to's here at Lola. You can choose from their seemingly never ending list of scents and you can have two in your device at a time. Users use the app to control times in which the scent disperses, the intensity of the scent, and you can even set times for the Pura to turn on on its own, ensuring your home smells amazing at all times! We also adore the reed diffusers from Magnolia. The linen scent has to be the best clean scent you can ask for.
Another elevated way to add a fresh scent into a home is a simmer pot. For a warm winter aroma, add orange slices, cranberries, rosemary, cloves, allspice, and cinnamon into a pot or a slow cooker with some water and warm it until the scent begins to fill your home. Another fun scent recipe as we slowly approach into warmer temperatures is mixing lemon slices, oranges, grapefruits, rosemary, mint, and lavender.

Now that we’ve cultivated a relaxing, organized space, let’s talk about organizing and elevating your everyday life!
One of the best ways to keep a stress free, organized schedule is to invest in a planner that works for you. We love the Erin Condren planners because she offers so many different options to adjust to individual needs. If you’re more of an online or mobile planner, like many of us are, the Google Calendar App is a game changer for planning events and tasks.
Another helpful tool is maintaining an accurate to do list. The best thing about to do lists is the ability to get all ideas out of your head and onto paper, which is always helpful when feeling overwhelmed. Tip from one of our Lola Girl’s: write down everything on your to do list for the next day at night before you go to bed to get it off of your mind and then the next day do the most challenging or most important things FIRST to prevent avoiding them.
Finally, the new year is the perfect time to invest in yourself and pick up habits that help you to feel like your best self.
It’s the perfect time to pick up a new form of self care, a new workout routine, or even a new hobby. Some fun options that us girls at Lola have been loving are Pilates, going on walks, and at home walking pads. Some new and exciting hobby ideas could be pottery classes, art classes, candle making, painting, junk journaling, knitting, and jewelry making. Utilizing online resources such as Skill Share or even YouTube are amazing options when picking up a new skill.

That all for now Lola Girls, cheer's to a new year. We are so excited to see what 2025 has in store.
